Matthew J. Hunter

MATTHEW J. HUNTER was born and raised in Sackets Harbor, New York, a small town nestled on the shores of Lake Ontario in Northern New York. He attended Elmira College, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

Mr. Hunter moved to San Diego to attend law school where he graduated cum laude, in 2002 from California Western School of Law. During law school, Mr. Hunter received California Western’s only two awards for trial advocacy, the Richard D. Westbrook Award for Trial Advocacy and the Advocacy Honors Borad Award for Best Trial Advocate. He also received Am Jur awards in Advanced Trial Practice and was a member of California Western’s trial team.

Following law school, Mr. Hunter was a post bar clerk with San Diego City Attorney’s office and thereafter began a civil practice in San Diego concentrating in the defense of personal injury, premise liability, professional negligence, and construction defect matters. His practice also included a substantial amount of business litigation.

Mr. Hunter subsequently moved to Palm Springs, where his practice focused on Real Estate and Business litigation matters. He joined Winet, Patrick & Weaver in 2008 where his practice includes personal injury defense and construction defect litigation. Mr. Hunter litigates matters throughout Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
